In a scientific achievement that adds to the record of research successes of  Theodor Bilharz Research Institute, the Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority has approved a patent submitted to the Patent Office, funded by the Science, Technology, and Innovation Funding Authority (STDF), in the field of producing genetically engineered therapeutic proteins using biotechnology.

Professor Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Acting Director of TBRI and Chairman of the Board of Directors, extends his sincere congratulations to Professor Mohamed Ali Saber, Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Professor Ehab El-Dabaa, Deputy Head of the Division of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Medicinal Chemistry, on the occasion of obtaining a patent from the Science, Technology & Innovation Funding Authority (STDF) in the field of producing genetically engineered therapeutic proteins using biotechnology.

As part of its commitment to organizing scientific activities that support the research ecosystem and develop researchers’ skills, Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI), under the patronage of Professor Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Institute, held a lecture titled “Thriving Under Pressure: Emotional Resilience for the Researcher’s Journey.” The session was delivered by Dr. Shaimaa Shaker, a researcher in the Parasitology Department, psychiatrist, and mental health trainer. In her lecture, she addressed the importance of promoting mental well-being and emotional resilience among researchers in light of the professional challenges they face throughout their scientific careers.

As part of its commitment to supporting research collaboration and exchanging expertise in the fields of biobanking and biomedical sciences, Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) participated in the First Arab Biobank Collaborative Network Conference (ABCON 2025), held on July 16-17, 2025, at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. The event brought together a number of research institutions, universities, medical centers, and organizations from various Arab countries.

The purpose of this memorandum of understanding is to furtherly promote cooperation and the advancement of academic and research capabilities and educational exchange between Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) (Egypt) and Wuhan University (China), as an extension to the previous MOU launched in 2019.
