Conclusion of the summer training courses for medical students at the departments of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute.

Under the patronage of Prof. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute and Chairman of the Board of Directors, the summer training courses presented by the Institute's Training and Research Consultancy Unit to university students concluded. The Institute received 25 students from the faculties of medicine at Cairo University, Ain Shams University, Badr University, Badiya University, and New Giza University for summer training during the months of July and August. The training lasted for two weeks for each course, starting from July 13 until September 3, 2025.

The training included several clinical specialties in the various departments of the institute, such as the Urology Department, the hepatogastroenterology Department, the General Surgery Department, the Anesthesia Department, the Nephrology Department, and the Intensive Care Department. The training also covered laboratory departments such as the Microbiology Department, the Parasitology Department, the Hematology Department, the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department, the Clinical Chemistry Department, and the Immunology Department. This is in addition to a series of lectures that were presented to the students in the fields of infection control, therapeutic nutrition, and quality systems in healthcare facilities.

A select group of professors and research staff members from the institute trained the students in all relevant specializations, and a group of promising young doctors from the institute also participated in the training. Professor Ahmed Abdel Aziz, the director of the institute, awarded the students attendance certificates and recommendation letters for their training period. The certificates were also presented by Professor Effat El-Sherbini, the institute's emeritus professor and former head of the Microbiology Department and former deputy director of the institute, Professor Doaa Gamal, director of the Training and Research Consultation Unit, and Assistant Professor Dalia Salem, deputy director of the Training and Research Consultation Unit. 

Dr. Abdel Aziz expressed the importance of the role played by the institute as one of the leading medical research and training institutions in the field of gastrointestinal, liver, kidney, and urinary tract diseases and their complications. The institute offers many summer training courses not only for medical students but also for students of science and agriculture faculties from various governmental private universities. The institute is also dedicated to providing research consultations and training services to numerous research institutions, hospitals, and individuals, from Egypt and Arab countries such as Yemen, Iraq, and Sudan.

The students appreciated the role played by the organizers of the training courses as well as the trainers for the time and effort they dedicated to help them maximize the benefits from the courses. They also expressed their happiness with this opportunity, which allowed them to meet their peers from other universities and colleges, where ideas and opinions were exchanged during the training period.
