Theodor Bilharz Research Institute strengthens academic cooperation with Badr University through a specialized training workshop for biotechnology students.

As part of the commitment of  Theodor Bilharz Research Institute to its leading role in qualifying young scientific talents and supporting specialized training programs, the institute organized an intensive practical workshop under the patronage of Prof.  Ahmed Abdel Aziz, the director of the institute and chairman of the board of directors. The workshop lasted for three days for third-year students of the Faculty of Biotechnology at Badr University, in light of the cooperation protocol signed between the two parties.

The workshop aimed to provide students with comprehensive practical experience in a range of the most important modern laboratory techniques. These included cell and tissue culture, which are among the most important techniques in applied biology used to grow isolated cells or tissues in the laboratory for their proliferation, maintenance, and use in research to study their behavior and develop drugs and treatments. The workshop also covered the ELISA technique (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay), which is used to detect proteins and hormones through antibody reactions and monitor the change in color intensity resulting from the reaction to identify the target substance. Additionally, training was provided on the Western Blot technique, which is an accurate method for identifying specific proteins within samples or tissue extracts.
The workshop was conducted under the supervision of Prof.  Samah Mamdouh, Head of  Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department, and participated in organizing the training program and delivering theoretical lectures and practical applications, each of Dr. Safia Samir, Dr. Hend Okasha, Dr. Omnia Ali, Dr. Fatma Hassan, Dr. Omnia Maher.

Prof.  Ahmed Abdel Aziz stated that holding this workshop represents a serious beginning and a first step in activating the terms of the cooperation agreement with Badr University, emphasizing that organizing training and qualification workshops reflects the institute's identity as a scientific beacon, always striving to link scientific research with practical application and prepare new generations for the job market.
The workshop concluded with praise from the participating students for the advanced practical experiences they gained, affirming that it opened new horizons for them to understand the practical applications of laboratory technologies.
