Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) betweenTheodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) (Egypt) & Wuhan University (China)

The purpose of this memorandum of understanding is to furtherly promote cooperation and the advancement of academic and research capabilities and educational exchange between Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) (Egypt) and Wuhan University (China), as an extension to the previous MOU launched in 2019.

 

Areas and approaches of cooperation

 

Within mutual fields of interest, the following general forms of cooperation will be implemented:

·             The main area of cooperation of this memorandum is the study of schistosomiasis, including the establishment of Schistosoma and Snail Joint Research Laboratory in Wuhan University, the collection and storage of African and Asian Schistosoma and snails for mutual research, and the lab work for molluscicides testing and snail control.

·             Joint research activities, scientific publications and training programs.

·             Participation in seminars and academic meetings.

·             Exchange of scientific information and publications for teaching, training and scientific research purposes.

·             Scientific visits of researchers for the purpose of joint research and training.

·             The academic visiting, including workshops, academic meetings, sample collection, and lab training would be held at least once a year, the time and place will be negotiated and agreed for both parties.

 

Confidentiality, dissemination and sharing of research results

·             All data and research results originated from collaboration will be shared between both parties.

·             Each party has responsibility to provide the data originated from collaboration to the other party.

·             The authors and contents of published papers and documents should be negotiated and approved by both parties before submitted.

·             Each party cannot make any public announcements, statements, publications or releases any information in relation to any proposed cooperation or activity without prior written approval of both parties.

·             Each party has to keep confidential any information that it received from the other party which is marked confidentially or which a party notifies the other party is confidential.

·             At the time of presence of a representative from one of the two parties in the premises of the other party, he or she should conform to the internal rules to which he has been informed in a language understandable by him or her. 

 

Duration of the Memorandum

This memorandum is valid for three years, possibly renewable after approval of both parties.
