Memorandum of Understanding between the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute and Badr University in Cairo
Objective
The memorandum of understanding aims to involve Theodor Bilharz Research Institute and Badr University in working to create a new generation of researchers in the medical and health fields who seek scientific progress without compromising environmental elements. Theodor Bilharz Research Institute is the largest of its kind in Egypt and the region in the field of scientific research, and the training and research tools available to both parties to achieve this goal and qualify outstanding young people who are familiar with the objectives of specialized knowledge and skills within a framework of equality, joint cooperation, and the exchange of special privileges between the two parties.
Areas of joint cooperation
Cooperation between the two parties covers all scientific fields of mutual interest, in particular:
▪ Joint research and research projects.
▪ Exchange of scientists and experts, especially in the field of liver and kidney transplantation and diseases of the digestive system, liver, kidneys, and urinary tract.
▪ Training for students in graduate studies and recent graduates.
▪ Organization of health and awareness caravans for the areas surrounding the two institutions and other areas in need.
▪ Exchange of experiences and support regarding the accreditation of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control (GAHAR).
▪ All other forms of cooperation agreed upon by the two parties at a later date.
Exchange of experts
Members of the teaching staff at Badr University may participate in research and scientific activities at Theodor Bilharz Research Institute Research Institute, and members of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute may participate in research and activities within Badr University, when one of the parties so requires and after approval by the competent authority provided that each party treats the employees of the other party in accordance with the same rights and duties in all aspects except financial rights.
Conferences, seminars, workshops, scientific meetings, and health and awareness caravans
The parties agree to organize conferences, seminars, workshops, and scientific meetings on a regular basis in various fields of mutual interest. They also agree to participate in organizing health and awareness caravans.
Term of the Memorandum and Mechanism of Implementation and Coordination
The parties agree that the term of this Memorandum shall be one year, and shall not be automatically renewed, but shall be renewed with the written consent of both parties. No provision of this memorandum may be amended or modified except by direct written agreement between the parties, and such agreement shall be implemented after mutual coordination between them. Each party shall appoint an executive officer to coordinate and supervise the implementation of the provisions agreed upon in this memorandum. With regard to the implementation of this memorandum, Prof. Mahmoud Fahmy, Vice President for Scientific Research, shall serve as the coordinator of the cooperation protocol for Badr University, and Assistant Professor Safia Samir Al-Naggar shall serve as the coordinator for Theodor Bilharz Research Institute.
