In line with the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi regarding the importance of clinical nutrition in maintaining human health and improving patient conditions, and as part of the government commitment to establishing clinical nutrition units in hospitals across the country, the Theodore Bilharz Research Institute has inaugurated its Clinical Nutrition Unit—the first of its kind among research centers in Egypt.

The Research Staff Club marked a special day in its history with the grand opening of its new headquarters, attended by a distinguished group of scientific leaders. The event featured the participation of Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Moawad, President of the National Research Center, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shamis, President of TBRI, and Prof. Dr. Sherine Abdelkader, Head of the Electronics Research Center, along with several former heads of the center: Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hashim, Prof. Dr. Hussein Darwish, and Prof. Dr. Fajr Abdelgawad.

TBRI is one of Egypt's most prominent specialized medical centers, boasting a rich history and a forward-thinking vision aimed at delivering top-tier medical and therapeutic services to patients. This distinguished institution is led by Dr. Mohamed Shamis, a role model in medical leadership, renowned for his extensive expertise and dedication to advancing the institute to the forefront of healthcare institutions locally and regionally.

Professor Dr. Mohamed Abbas Shams, Director of Theodore Bilharz Institute for Research and Chairman of the Board, signed a cooperation protocol with the National Liver Institute at Menoufia University. The signing ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University. This collaboration aims to enhance research and training in the medical and health fields. On behalf of the National Liver Institute, the protocol was signed by Dr. Osama Hegazy, Dean of the Institute and Chairman of its Hospitals' Board.

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, chaired the first session of the 2025 meeting of the Council of Research Centers, Institutes, and Authorities. The session was attended by Dr. Hossam Osman, Deputy Minister for Innovation and Scientific Research Affairs; Dr. Walid Al-Zawawi, Secretary of the Council of Research Centers, Institutes, and Authorities; Dr. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities; and the esteemed council members. The meeting was held at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
