A Strong Presence and Scientific Leadership by TBRI at the 14th Egyptian-French Meeting of Hepatogastroentrology
Reaffirming its scientific leadership and pivotal role in supporting medical research and training, Theodor Bilharz Research Institute, under the leadership of Prof. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Institute and Chairman of the Board, is making a distinguished scientific contribution to the 14th Egyptian-French Meeting on hepatogastroenterology.
The institute is not only one of the organizing bodies but also a key partner in delivering high-level scientific content that reflects the latest global advancements in medical practice.
The meeting will be held on April 26, 2026, at the Main Conference Hall, Faculty of Medicine, Kasr Al-Ainy – Cairo University, with the participation of a distinguished group of leading professors and experts in hepatology and gastroenterology from Egypt and France. This comes within the framework of a remarkable scientific collaboration aimed at exchanging expertise and enhancing healthcare quality through the application of up-to-date medical knowledge in clinical practice.
The scientific program reflects a high level of integration between theory and practice, combining specialized lectures with interactive discussions. It also includes the presentation and discussion of two clinical cases from Egypt and France, offering participants a valuable opportunity to strengthen their analytical skills and clinical decision-making in daily medical practice.
The program features nine high-level specialized lectures covering a wide range of topics. These include the latest international guidelines for the assessment and management of portal hypertension according to the Baveno VIII updates, as well as recent developments in hepatocellular carcinoma and its management in Egypt and the Middle East. The lectures also address the optimal timing for gastroenterologists to suspect neuroendocrine tumors, the expanding role of endoscopic ultrasound in diagnosing and treating pancreatic diseases, and the latest strategies for managing severe acute pancreatitis.
Additionally, the program covers the management of biliary tract infections and liver abscesses, advanced endoscopic drainage techniques for biliary strictures, diagnostic challenges in inflammatory bowel diseases and their mimics, and recent advances in the histopathological diagnosis of liver disorders—particularly porto-sinusoidal vascular diseases—offering a comprehensive scientific experience that bridges innovation with clinical application.
The meeting will witness the participation of prominent international experts from France alongside a distinguished group of Egyptian professors. Theodor Bilharz Research Institute will be honorably represented through a scientific lecture delivered by Prof. Khaled Mohamed Ragab. Furthermore, several members from the institute’s Hepatogastroenterology Department will chair scientific sessions, including Prof. Ayman Abdel Aziz (Head of the Department), Prof. Maged El-Ghannam, Prof. Mahmoud Al-Ansari, Prof. Shendy Mohamed, and Prof. Ahmed Montasser. The event is coordinated on behalf of the institute by Prof. Ahmed El-Raai, reflecting the institute’s leading role in steering specialized scientific dialogue.
