Theodor Bilharz Institute launches research workshops on the sidelines of its annual conference to empower youth and promote sustainable development.

Under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abbas Shamis, Director of the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute and Chairman of the Conference, the activities of the workshops accompanying the annual conference of the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute 2025 were launched today, where the first workshop was held under the title: The Role of Scientific Research in Sustainable Development: Empowering Youth" in cooperation with the Arab Foundation for Young Scientists.

The workshop included three lectures that addressed several topics including sustainable development in the fields of health, environment, and water resources management, while highlighting scientific innovations and the role of youth in achieving a sustainable future.

A lecture entitled "The Role of Scientific Research in Achieving the Goals of Sustainable Development and Comprehensive Health Insurance" was presented by Dr. Aya Nassar, Vice President of the General Authority for Accreditation and Health Supervision.

A lecture entitled "Small Steps and a Big Impact in Combating Climate Change" was presented by Dr. Suzan Ezz El-Din, a researcher in the Environmental Research Department at the Theodor Bilharz Institute  For research.

A lecture entitled "Green Vision for a Healthier, More Sustainable Future" was presented by Dr. Atiyat Sobhi, Assistant Director of Dynamic Quality Management - El Manial University Specialized Hospital.

Professor Dr. Mohamed Abbas Shamis, Director of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute and Chairman of the Conference, stressed that these workshops come within the framework of the Institute's vision to enhance the role of scientific research in achieving sustainable development goals, with a focus on empowering youth and supporting scientific innovation. He expressed his hope that these events will result in new visions and practical solutions that contribute to facing current challenges and achieving a more sustainable and healthy future for future generations.

The conference and workshops will continue for four days, to provide more specialized scientific lectures and fruitful dialogue sessions.
