
Biography
Assist. Prof. Walaa El-Maadawy graduated from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cairo University (B.Sc.) and holds M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Pharmacology & Toxicology. She is the moderator of the Research Ethics Committee Clinical Research Center (REC) at TBRI and a member of the Grant International Cooperation Office (GICO). Formerly deputy manager of the Clinical Research Center, TBRI, she is certified as a QPPV from the Arab Union of The Manufacturers of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Appliances. In December 2018, she participated in the USFDA inspection at the Swiss TPH with Novartis Pharma AG, Basel, Switzerland. She has published 20 international research articles (h-index in Scopus: 11). Currently, she is the PI of an STDF-funded project (#48476) and has participated in an STDF-funded project (#31257). Additionally, she has been involved in 5 research projects sponsored by international, local, and TBRI funding agencies.
Research Fields
Her research work focuses on: pharmacokinetics, bioavailability, and bioequivalence studies of compounds/drugs; evaluation of the hepatoprotective and antifibrotic potential of drugs/ compounds, novel/repurposed therapeutic approaches for fatty liver diseases, renal diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, and antimicrobial resistance.
