Biography
I am an Assistant Professor in Medical Malacology at the Environmental Research and Medical Malacology Department of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI). I completed my undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Science, Al-Azhar University. I hold both a Master’s and a Ph.D. in Immunology from Al-Azhar University in Egypt. My research at TBRI for examining host-parasite relationships during Schistosoma mansoni infections, as well as analyzing the immune responses in infected snails by assessing various apoptotic and cell cycle gene markers, along with studying the ultrastructure of haemocytes in snails during the infection. I have contributed to two internal projects and one international project. I have published 15 research papers in both national and international journals. I have attended in 10 training courses at TBRI, Al-Azhar, and Mansoura University. Additionally, I have attended 34 workshops and 14 symposiums. Furthermore, 55 conferences and scientific meetings.
Research Fields
Biological methods utilizing plant-derived substances serve as effective molluscicides for controlling schistosome vector snails in laboratory settings, presenting a less harmful alternative to chemical compounds for the ecosystem. Furthermore, snails are employed as a model organism to investigate the impact of nanoparticles on the tissues of Biomphalaria alexandrina snails through histological studies, hormone analysis, biochemical assessments, hematological investigations, and examinations of genotoxicity, while also being used as biomarkers for toxicological research and the evaluation of heavy metal stress in aquatic environments.
