Biography

Olfat Ali hammam “Prof. and formerx Head of Pathology Department, Theodor Bilharz Research Institute”(from 2015-2017), graduated from Faculty of Medicine Cairo University (M.B, B.Ch) and pathology (M.Sc.; M.D.). My work is the diagnosis of cytological and histological specimen from all body systems with special concern to the gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary. Also, I attended training courses on: writing pathological reports, statistical analysis, computer studies, stem cell transp lantation, research ethic, I have been involved in research topics on: pathology of shistosomiasis, histopathological effect of antischistosomal drugs in murine and human infections, liver fibrosis and early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma and pathological changes associating viral hepatitis, hepatic histopathological changes after transplantation of stem cells, tracing and identification of transplanted stem cells into hepatocytes in mice, drug efficacy and toxicity. I had 220 scientific publications, peer reviewed international journals and supervised 100 M.Sc.and Ph.D thesis. Research field: My expeirience in application of immunohistochemical (IHC) staining procedures, for diagnostic and research purposes, working on the Image Analysis System for studying DNA parameters, quantitative IHC and morphometry and performing immuno fluorescent and fluorescent in situ hybridization techniques (FISH) and using Cytovision software for detection and evaluation of the muted genes and abnormal chromosomes. I got practical and technical training on the pathology and immunohistochemistry in France (1985-1986), and on identification and tracing of transplanted stem cells and FISH technique in Germany (1 july 2004- 1 october 2004). Working as Visiting Professor of Pathology at School of Medicine Stanford University, Palo Alto, California, United Stated of America, from June 4/2013 -June 2/ 2014.
