Professor Manal Mortady Hamed; works in Laboratory of Medicinal Chemistry, Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI). B.Sc. degree of Chemistry in 1990, very good May, from Faculty of Science, Cairo University. Ph. D.: Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Cairo University, 2005. Department Vice Dean in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Medicinal Chemistry Research Division, 2019 -2025. Acting Head of Medicinal Chemistry Division, 2025. Experience in extraction and isolation of different compounds from different natural sources, Study the mechanism of their biological activity.

Chemistry of Natural Products and its biological application
• Since 1991 I start my work at TBRI about the extraction and isolation of different natural product classes such as, Saponin (steroidal and triterpenoidal) compounds, Volatile oils, Phenolic compounds (flavonoids, coumarins, alkaloids and phenylethanoids). I have a good experience in the mechanism of action study and evaluating the cytotoxicity, antioxidant, and antitumor in vitro and in vivo activities of the obtained extracts, fractions, sub-fractions, and the isolated secondary metabolites in a close collaboration with the biologists and pharmacologists. Also, I have an excellent experience in structure elucidation of the isolated compounds by 1HNMR and mass spectrometry (EI-MS or ESI-MS), 13CNMR and 2D-NMR of experiments like H-H Cosy, HMBC, HMQC and Noesy spectra. Study of the structure activity relationship (SAR) of the isolated compounds as well as nanoparticles technology.
