Biography
Dr. Hussein is a biomedical researcher with 15 years of experience in infectious diseases—particularly schistosomiasis—and natural product discovery. His work has explored the role of Foxp3⁺ T cells in immune regulation and host–parasite dynamics using tools such as ATAC-seq and single-cell RNA-seq. His current research focuses on isolating bioactive peptides from marine snails, sea urchins, and Egyptian scorpions, targeting their potential as anticancer, antimicrobial, antiparasitic, and molluscicidal agents. He uses proteomics, peptide fractionation, and mass spectrometry to identify promising compounds. Dr. Hussein collaborates with Radboud University, the Free University in Amsterdam, Netherlands, ICGEB Cape Town, and Cairo University, and has published many peer-reviewed papers.
