Biography

The focus of Dr. Rasha Gad researches is to study the immune system of invertebrates and its influence on the host-parasite relationship especially in cases of both Fascioliasis and Schistosomiasis targeting the decrease of the intermediate host susceptibility of to transmit diseases through immunostimulation either by natural or chemical materials. Recently she is concerned with the pharmaceutical and medical importance of bioactive materials extracted from both marine and fresh water mollusca. She participated in a collaborative research project between medical malacology laboratory and National Institute of Parasitic Diseases in China to evaluate a Chinese herbal product against Schistosome vector. She is also a Co-PI of the internal project No. 91 C at TBRI. She is a member in the international US-EGY project No. 188 (A neurobiological approach to vector control for intestinal Schistosomiasis). She published 17 scientific researches in international indexed journals.
