Theodor Bilharz Research Institute Honored as Guest of Honor at “Diabesity 2025” Conference, Reaffirming Its Leadership in Medical Research and Clinical Nutrition

Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI), headed by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors, participated as a guest and honorary sponsor in the fourth edition of the “Diabesity 2025” Conference, held in the presence of leading scientific figures and experts in clinical nutrition, diabetes, and chronic diseases.

During the conference, TBRI was honored in recognition of its continued contribution and support to scientific and research activities. The commemorative shield was received on behalf of the Director by Dr. Marwa Abdel Ghany, Deputy Head of the Clinical Nutrition Unit and research staff Member at the Institute, amid wide acclaim for the Institute’s distinguished scientific standing.

This year’s conference was organized by the Medical Foundation for Health Awareness and Prevention (MHAPA), led by a select group of specialized physicians: Dr. Sherry Nabil Naguib, Dr. Peter Safwat, Dr. Heba Omar, and Dr. Engy Magdy. The event was supported by prominent national and international entities, and officially accredited with Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours through Bloom Academy, recognized by the American Association of CME, the Egyptian Health Council, the World Obesity Federation, the global SCOPE program on obesity, the Giza Medical Syndicate, and the Clinical Nutrition Physicians Association of the Giza Medical Syndicate. These accreditations further enhanced the scientific value of the event and reflected the excellence of its organization.

Representing TBRI at the conference was the Clinical Nutrition Unit team, comprising distinguished researchers: Dr. Engy Mohsen Abdel Moneim, Dr. Noha Mohamed Abdel Rahman, Dr. Noura Magdy Al Akkad, Dr. Nesma Salah Kotb, Dr. Amal Mahmoud Belal, Dr. Menna Allah Hossam, Dr. Hend Gamal El Din, and Dr. Dina Eid Beshr. The team actively contributed to scientific sessions and specialized discussions, adding a strong academic and practical dimension to the event.

“Diabesity 2025” addressed a range of advanced scientific topics, most notably: the role of clinical nutrition in prevention and treatment, the latest research on diabetes, and the health challenges posed by chronic diseases in modern times. The conference also featured rich debates and meaningful scientific contributions that highlighted Egypt’s progress in research and practical applications in nutrition and public health.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of TBRI, emphasized that this recognition is a culmination of years of dedicated efforts in advancing scientific research and healthcare development in Egypt. He stressed that the Institute carries a national and scientific responsibility that requires continuous engagement in credible and purposeful platforms. He added that TBRI’s participation as Guest of Honor at “Diabesity 2025” reflects its leading role in healthcare and clinical nutrition. Moreover, he highlighted that collaboration with national and international institutions is essential in the face of increasing health challenges, and that scientific conferences serve as strategic platforms for unifying efforts and adopting evidence-based innovative solutions.

Dr. Abdel Aziz further noted that the Clinical Nutrition Unit at TBRI stands as a successful model of research-to-practice integration, and the Institute’s management is committed to continuously supporting and developing it. He underlined that clinical nutrition is no longer a luxury, but a fundamental pillar in the treatment of non-communicable diseases—especially obesity and diabetes—and a central focus in modern public health strategies.

TBRI’s participation in this major scientific event reaffirms its ongoing commitment to supporting Egypt’s research and healthcare ecosystem, and to sustaining its role as a national cornerstone of medical and research innovation, directly contributing to the health and quality of life of Egyptian citizens.
