As Part of Its Development Plan: Theodor Bilharz Research Institute Receives the Latest Endoscopic Ultrasound System and Advanced Sterilization Units from Fujifilm

As part of the continuous development strategy adopted by Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) to enhance the quality of specialized medical services, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Institute and Chairman of the Board, the Institute has witnessed a new support initiative for the Hepatogastroentrology Endoscopy Unit from Fujifilm. This support included supplying the unit with the latest Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) system, in addition to the installation of two state-of-the-art endoscope reprocessing and sterilization systems manufactured by the company, which have been recently delivered and fully installed within the unit.

This development comes as a continuation of the comprehensive modernization and upgrading process underway at the Institute, reflecting its ongoing commitment to keeping pace with the latest global advancements in medical technology. Such efforts contribute to improving clinical performance efficiency, enhancing diagnostic accuracy, accelerating therapeutic interventions, and strengthening infection control measures within specialized units.

The newly installed equipment has been put into operation under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ayman Abdel Aziz, Head of Hepatogastroenterology Department, and Dr. Sameh Badr, Director of the Endoscopy Unit. The Endoscopic Ultrasound system represents a significant technological addition, enabling more precise diagnosis of gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and biliary diseases, as well as highly accurate image-guided tissue sampling, thereby supporting the advancement of diagnostic and therapeutic services provided by the unit.

Furthermore, the two new sterilization systems play a vital role in reinforcing infection control protocols within the Endoscopy Unit, ensuring the highest levels of safety and quality in endoscope reprocessing in accordance with internationally recognized standards, and enhancing patients’ confidence in the level of care delivered.

In a statement, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Institute, affirmed that this development reflects Theodor Bilharz Research Institute’s strong commitment to the continuous upgrading of its medical infrastructure. He noted that equipping the Endoscopy Unit with an Endoscopic Ultrasound system and advanced sterilization technologies constitutes a major addition that supports medical performance efficiency and contributes to delivering accurate and safe healthcare services

Dr. Abdel-Aziz added that the Institute continues to implement its ambitious vision to strengthen its position as a leading medical and research reference center in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology, through ongoing investment in modern technology and the development of medical staff and specialized teams. This approach ensures the provision of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services characterized by high levels of precision and efficiency, emphasizing the Institute’s ongoing efforts to modernize its various units and reinforce its pioneering role as a national institution actively contributing to the support of Egypt’s healthcare system in accordance with the highest quality standards
