  • Diagnosis of endemic diseases affecting liver, gastrointestinal & urinary tract using different imaging modalities (X-ray, Fluoroscopy, ultrasonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging).
  • Treatment of liver diseases using less invasive interventional techniques (Hepatic angiography, chemoembolization of hepatic tumors – percutaneous trans hepatic drainage – trans jugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt).
  • Helping in diagnosis and treatment of some renal & gastrointestinal diseases by angiography.

Every resident spends two years at different radiological units, then spends one year as visitor resident at a university hospital.

  •  The diagnosis and treatment of endemic diseases and their complications especially these affecting the liver, gastrointestinal and urinary tract mainly as a result of schistosomiasis and viral hepatitis. This is to meet the social, economic and technological needs of Egypt and the regional areas.
  •  Improving the service offered and increasing number of served patients by purchasing new advanced radiological equipment “MRI”.
