Theodor Bilharz Research Institute Enhances Scientific Collaboration with Germany by Hosting a High-Level Delegation from the German Embassy

In a significant step towards strengthening international academic and scientific cooperation, Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) welcomed a delegation from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany. The delegation included Ms. Lorena Moor, First Secretary and Head of the Science Department and Chief of Protocol, and Ms. Maha Wissa, Cultural Affairs Officer. They were received by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abbas Shamis, Director of the Institute and Chairman of the Board.

The visit aligns with TBRI’s vision of expanding international collaboration. Productive discussions took place between the visiting delegation and institute officials, focusing on potential partnerships with German academic and scientific institutions. The discussions highlighted opportunities for knowledge exchange and the development of joint research projects across various scientific fields. The visit also featured a documentary showcasing TBRI’s history and its current research endeavors.

During the visit, the delegation toured the institute’s clinical departments and research laboratories, where they observed advanced technologies and ongoing scientific and medical research activities.

The meeting was attended by several prominent professors and specialists from TBRI, including Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Weshahi, Professor of Urological Surgery; Prof. Dr. Nagwa El-Khafif, Professor in the Electron Microscopy Department and International Relations Coordinator; and Prof. Dr. Tarek Abu Shousha, Professor of Pathology and Advisor to the Institute Director.

Ms. Lorena Moor praised the institute’s remarkable progress in various fields of scientific research, emphasizing the importance of international academic collaboration in fostering scientific innovation. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abbas Shamis reaffirmed TBRI’s commitment to establishing strategic partnerships with global institutions, contributing to advancing scientific research and addressing global health challenges.

This visit underscores TBRI’s dedication to enhancing its international standing as a leading research center and expanding its partnerships with global academic institutions. Such collaborations aim to advance scientific research in Egypt and beyond.

It is noteworthy that TBRI was established in 1964 through an agreement between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Egyptian government. Since its inception, the institute has maintained long-standing relationships with German scientific institutions, facilitating research collaborations and broadening the expertise of its researchers across various medical fields.
