Signing of a Cooperation Protocol between Theodore Bilharz Institute and National Liver Institute

Professor Dr. Mohamed Abbas Shams, Director of Theodore Bilharz Institute for Research and Chairman of the Board, signed a cooperation protocol with the National Liver Institute at Menoufia University. The signing ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University. This collaboration aims to enhance research and training in the medical and health fields.

The protocol was signed on behalf of the National Liver Institute by Dr. Osama Hegazy, Dean of the Institute and Chairman of its Hospitals' Board.

Dr. Shams expressed his pleasure with this collaboration, emphasizing the role of Theodore Bilharz Institute in advancing scientific research and medical applications. He explained that the protocol aims to strengthen integration between the two institutions through joint research, knowledge exchange, and the organization of scientific and health events to serve the community.

He highlighted that the agreement includes organizing joint conferences and scientific seminars, exchanging researchers and experts, training postgraduate students, and implementing impactful research projects. The cooperation will also focus on providing mutual support to obtain accreditations from the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) to improve the quality of healthcare services.

Professor Dr. Ahmed Farag El-Kased confirmed that this collaboration aligns with the activation of the Regional Alliances Initiative for Egyptian Universities under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He noted that the agreement reflects Menoufia University's commitment to supporting scientific research in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 and achieving sustainable development through localizing and producing knowledge aligned with national priorities.

Dr. Osama Hegazy, Dean of the National Liver Institute, highlighted that Theodore Bilharz Institute is a pioneering institution in medical research. He expressed confidence that this collaboration will significantly advance liver transplantation, the training of medical professionals, and the implementation of applied research to serve the community.

The signing ceremony was attended by prominent professors from both institutions. From Theodore Bilharz Institute, attendees included Dr. Tarek Abu Shousha, Professor of Pathology and former Vice Director of Theodore Bilharz Institute; Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Head of the Clinical Surgical Division; Dr. Mohamed Abu El-Az, Professor of Gastroenterology and Hepatology; and Dr. Ahmed Hussein, Researcher in the Department of Medical Mollusks. From the National Liver Institute, participants included Dr. Hani Sherim, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Eman Abdel Samee, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies; and Dr. Ahmed Attia, Executive Director of the National Liver Institute Hospital.

Both parties are optimistic that this collaboration will represent a pivotal step towards achieving outstanding scientific accomplishments, strengthening Egypt's position in the fields of scientific research and healthcare.
