Environmental Research Department

About Department

    1. The research strategy of the Environmental Research Laboratory aims to conduct research related to environment health risks and their role in the emergence of diseases with concentration on liver and kidney disease in Egypt. The research plan includes monitoring, impact assessment and remediation through modern environmental biological and Nano-technological applications and  using of living organisms as biological indicators (plants, bacteria, fungi, algea, and fish).

    2. The plan includes Studying the impact of environmental and climatic changes on the biodiversity of aquatic organisms and the spread of endemic diseases.

    3. The strategic plan seeks to link department recent research and projects to the environment, society and industry through applied research output.

Mission

  1.                      Water quality monitoring including chemical and biological assessment.
  2.                     Survey and monitoring of watercourses to detect the prevalence of water borne diseases in Egypt.
  3.                    Studying the impact of environmental and climatic changes on biodiversity of aquatic organisms and spread of endemic diseases.
  4.                     Recent Nanoparticles applications in diagnosis and treatment.
  5.                     Cooperation with different institutions in and outside Egypt for training and carrying out researches related to environmental diseases prevention.

Vision

  1. Studying the impact of recent developments in freshwater management on water quality and disease transmission.
  2. Screening for bioactive compounds among different biological samples.
  3. Applying biological approaches to diminish freshwater pollution.
  4. Using environmental nanotechnology applications to detect and treat chemical and biological water pollution.
